Massage Therapy is defined as “the assessment of the soft tissue and joints of the body and the treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissue and joints by manipulation to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function, or relieve pain.” (College of Massage Therapists of Ontario, 1991)
Graston Technique is a type of instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM). Within a scheduled Graston appointment, you can expect a quick assessment of the tissue to be treated, the treatment itself, some resistance exercise for the area treated (either in the treatment or prescribed) and then a quick reassessment. As a certified Graston Technique Provider, Darren incorporated this effective soft tissue modality to work on many conditions that involve the connective tissues of the body including: tendons, ligaments and scar tissue.
While Graston Technique has been used to treat conditions for over 30 years, it continues to be the subject of inquiry and new research is frequently produced detailing its efficacy and discovering new applications.
Benefits:
-Decreases treatment time
-Increased specificity of tissue treatment
-Quicker improved treatment outcomes
-Patient can often actually FEEL the tissue changes occurring
