Throughout his career, Darren has worked with elite athletes, professional athletes, weekend warriors and people in all levels of challenge. Darren’s success as a therapist comes from his playful and investigative approach to treating problems like puzzles and then solving them. While he has a reputation for being able to apply deep pressure, Darren is also able to work gently as long as the patient communicates their needs. Never afraid to refer or collaborate with other health care professionals, he is also very aware of what he can and can’t treat. If you asked Darren what areas he has the most success  treating, he would tell you that the shoulders, neck, jaw, hips and low back are his areas of interest. Darren has over 28,000 hours of hands on clinical experience since entering professional practice in 2002.
After graduating from the Centennial College Massage Therapy Program in 2002, Darren has been committed to lifelong learning, attending professional conferences and completing degrees in physical health education with a specialty in health promotion at Laurentian University and a Master’s degree in Leadership Studies through Guelph university. Darren has participated twice on the Council of his profession’s regulatory body and sat on the Program Advisory Comittee for Centennial College’s Massage Therapy Program for over 10 years. Starting in 2011, Darren taught in both the Massage Therapy and Fitness & Health Promotion programs, delivering over 3,500 hours of health science knowledge and clinical guidance, until the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. The underlying theme of Darren’s approach to treating is to move his clients from rehabilitation to relaxation by helping to maintain tissue health while encouraging a healthy lifestyle.
In May 2022, Darren became certified as a Graston Technique provider. This soft tissue modality is effective in treating the connective tissues of the body; tendons, ligaments and scar tissue. Graston Technique is used to increase strength, assist with remodelling of collagen fibres and breaks down scar tissue. Graston Technique is offered as a part of treatments at no extra cost when it is indicated.
Whether you have a new or old injury, are looking to prevent injuries, just want to relax or are looking for a way to increase and maintain your feeling of well being and your healthy lifestyle, Darren knows how to work toward meeting your goals and looks forward to helping you with your individualized needs.
